First international expert meeting on BD-IPMN in Verona

The 1st international expert meeting on BD-IPMN was held on April 22-23, 2013, in Garda, Verona, Italy. The principal aim of the meeting was to create an international research network and launch multicentric studies to be conducted over the next years. The meeting was endorsed by the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA).

Six key topics in the field of BD-IPMN were identified. Each topic was covered by a working group, chaired by a coordinator and composed of experts from various areas of medicine, selected on the basis of their scientific and clinical records. As a starting point, the participants reviewed the literature and identified clinical questions and areas of controversies within any given topic. On the basis of that, the working groups prepared a number of study protocols to be conducted over the next years. The new research consortium was named PanIntraNet.
